Challenge

I saw a post on Instagram advertising a "28 day Kundalini Awakening Challenge."
This word "challenge" made me think, sadly, people will fall for this and if they do not achieve said "awakening" after 28 days, will they beat themselves up? Will they judge themselves harshly?
Is your spiritual journey a challenge? It should not feel challenging in a competitive sense. Most fitness facilities advertise a "30 day challenge" or "challenge of the month" whatever the hook is to grow membership might work in a gym setting but does it work for your spiritual journey?
We are beings of Creator Light with multi-dimensional souls unfolding on our own timelines, we are not in competition with one another.
I personally have been on my own personal spiritual journey for over 10 years, and while I recognize growth, I also recognize where more work needs to occur. No judgements.
I had a friend who began their spiritual journey and at some point this person said to me, "I am on a higher level than you."
I recognized my growth in the lack of offense I took from their comment and judgement of me. I said nothing, however, their comment made me realize what spiritual growth is. Spiritual growth is awareness of yourself and your interactions with people, your judgements, your words, your opinions, and mostly how you deliver your thoughts and ideas to others. Do you consider how your words are received? Are they received as you intended? If so, why or why not?
Spiritual growth literally takes us lifetimes of self-study (svadhyaya) and we may or may not get it right in this lifetime, but we should never feel compelled to place such a strict timeframe on our growth in any aspect of spirituality as to think one can achieve awakening in 28 days. That's not to say one can't have an awakening overnight, we are all different. Anything is possible! However you achieve a spiritual awakening should never feel like a competition to be completed within a set number of days.
Embrace your individuality, show yourself grace, give yourself all the time you require to become the person you were meant to be. Realize all of your experiences have shaped you, and will continue to shape you. Follow where your spirit guides you, being true to yourself along the way, and most importantly - GET THERE IN YOUR OWN TIME!!!
OM Shanti OM
